TikTok Ads Account Suspended: How to Read the Notice, Check Account Health, and File an Appeal

Grace Whitmore Grace Whitmore Published on September 14, 2026 · inGuides

When a TikTok ads account is suspended, all of its ads stop and most settings lock. Open Account Health in TikTok Ads Manager to read the stated reason, fix what the notice points to, then file one appeal through Ad Assistant. For a first violation, TikTok gives 30 days to address the issue or appeal before the suspension becomes permanent.

This guide is a troubleshooting and appeal walkthrough based on TikTok's own Business Help Center. It does not cover ways around a suspension — those tend to turn a recoverable case into a permanent one — and no process can promise reinstatement. What it can do is make sure the decision is reviewed on accurate information.

What "TikTok ads account suspended" actually means

A suspension is an account-level action, not an ad-level one. A rejected ad affects one creative; a suspended ad account affects everything inside it. According to TikTok's help center, while an ad account is suspended:

  • All ads stop delivering. When the suspension is lifted, ads return to their original status.
  • Some Ads Manager features become unavailable, including transferring and accessing pixels.
  • Account and campaign settings cannot be changed. Users with Admin or Operator permissions can still pause or resume ads.
  • Agency accounts cannot create new ad accounts or add money to ad accounts.

It is also worth separating two things that share a word. A suspended ad account in TikTok Ads Manager is governed by TikTok's advertising policies and appealed through Ads Manager. A suspended TikTok user account in the app is a different process. Many searches mix them up, and the appeal routes are not interchangeable.

Step 1: Read Account Health before doing anything else

TikTok Ads Manager has an Account Health page that shows how the account stands against advertising policies. TikTok's help center gives the path: log in to TikTok Ads Manager, click Tools, click Account setup, then Account Health.

The page uses four statuses:

Status

What TikTok says it means

Good

The account complies with advertising policies; no action needed

Attention needed

The account needs remedial steps; warnings and suggestions are shown

Restricted

Certain features are disabled because of repeated violations

Poor

The account is suspended and can no longer run ads

When the status reaches "Attention needed", TikTok sends warning notifications and suggestions to improve — but TikTok also notes that severe violations can lead to immediate suspension without that stage. Account Health also lets you click into each policy category to see which ad groups did not meet the policies — this is the evidence your appeal should respond to. Some remediation tasks listed there must be completed within a required time period.

Step 2: Match the reason to what actually happened

TikTok's help center lists the common reasons an ad account is suspended:

  • Reports or complaints about the account from people on TikTok
  • Problems with the ad content, or with the products and services being advertised
  • Changing an ad's landing page after the campaign was created
  • Suspected malicious behaviour during ad creation
  • Other violations of the TikTok Advertising Guidelines

Go through them against your own records rather than guessing:

Complaints. Look at what customers experienced after the click — delivery times, refund handling, whether the product matched the ad. Account Health includes customer feedback, so check it there.

Ad content or the offer. Compare the flagged ad groups with the advertising policies for your category. Some categories require eligibility or documentation before they can run at all.

Landing page changes. This one catches teams that edit a live page — swapping the offer, redirecting to a different domain, or changing the checkout flow — after the ad was approved. If the page the reviewer saw is no longer the page users see, that mismatch is itself the problem. Write down exactly what changed and when.

Suspected malicious behaviour. Consider anything unusual at creation time: shared logins, sudden changes in who operates the account, payment details that do not match the business. Our explainer on how platforms link ad accounts covers why relationships between accounts, people, and payment methods are visible to review systems.

The goal of this step is a short, factual account of what happened. If you find a real problem, fix it before you appeal — an appeal that describes a fix already made is stronger than one that promises a future change.

Step 3: Fix the underlying issue

Because settings are locked during a suspension, some fixes happen outside Ads Manager:

  • Restore or correct the landing page so it matches what was approved, and keep it stable.
  • Resolve open customer complaints and document how.
  • Remove or correct the product claims that the flagged ads relied on.
  • Tidy access: confirm who holds Admin and Operator roles and why.

Record each change with a date. You will reference these in the appeal.

Step 4: File one appeal through Ad Assistant

TikTok's help center describes the appeal route:

  1. Sign in to TikTok Ads Manager with the suspended account.
  2. Click the Help icon.
  3. In Ad Assistant, click Submit ticket.
  4. In Issue Category, choose Account/Ad Review.
  5. Choose Account Review, then Account Suspension Appeal.
  6. Enter the appeal details and submit.

What to put in the appeal:

  • The ad account ID and the reason shown in Account Health.
  • A plain description of what caused it, if you identified a cause.
  • The specific changes you have already made, with dates.
  • If you believe the suspension is a mistake, say so directly and explain why, with evidence.

Keep it factual and short. Do not argue with the policy itself; respond to how your account relates to it.

Timing and conduct rules that matter

  • Deadlines. TikTok's suspension article says a first violation has 30 days to address the issues or appeal; if the issues are not resolved or the appeal is rejected, the suspension becomes permanent and cannot be appealed. TikTok's appeal article separately states that appeals submitted more than 180 days after a suspension will not be reviewed. Treat the shorter window as your real deadline.
  • Response time. TikTok says you should receive a reply within two business days of submitting.
  • One appeal per incident. Filing multiple appeals for the same issue in a short period delays processing.
  • Do not open new ad accounts while the appeal is under review. TikTok explicitly advises against it. Beyond the delay, it undermines the appeal's core claim that the issue has been addressed.

If you are rebuilding structure after the case is resolved, our TikTok ads account setup guide covers the order and settings that are hard to change later.

If the suspension is permanent: balance and refunds

A permanent suspension ends the appeal path, but it does not settle the remaining prepaid balance. TikTok's help center on refunds for suspended accounts says:

  • Remaining prepaid amounts are refundable upon account closure, subject to review by TikTok's risk and compliance teams, which consider whether policies or laws were violated.
  • You can request a refund through your account manager or customer support. Some accounts also have a Close account and refund option under Tools, Account setup, Account health.
  • TikTok may deduct a service fee of no more than 10% of the remaining prepaid amount.
  • Refunds go to the original payment method in the agreed billing currency, and bank transaction fees are borne by the account holder.
  • TikTok aims to process requests within 5 business days, and up to 60 days in exceptional cases such as an invalid payment method, manual review, or bank delays.

Do not remove or change the payment method before the refund is processed; TikTok lists expired, closed, removed, or changed payment methods as a common reason refunds fail.

Preventing the next suspension

Most of what keeps an account in "Good" standing is ordinary operational discipline:

  • Check Account Health on a schedule, and act while the status is "Attention needed" rather than after it turns "Poor".
  • Treat landing pages as part of the approved ad. If the page must change materially, create a new ad for review instead of editing underneath a live one.
  • Watch customer feedback as closely as conversion data.
  • Keep roles minimal and documented, so changes in who operates the account are explainable.

For new accounts, a spend pattern you can explain is easier to defend than a sudden jump; our note on ad account warm-up covers how to ramp in a way you can explain.

Where AdBegin fits

An appeal is only as good as your records: which people, accounts, and working environments were involved, and what changed when. AdBegin is an ad workspace that keeps the environment side of that organised and consistent while you work across platforms and accounts. It does not affect how TikTok reviews an account.
